Humans vs. machines

Picks lock per match — get them in before each kickoff. Opener: Mexico vs South AfricaThu 11 Jun · 19:00 UTC

How it works

  • Same forms, same locks. You predict exact scorelines for upcoming group-stage matches. A pick counts only if you save it before that match's kickoff (by the server clock). After kickoff it's frozen — no take-backs, just like the bots.
  • Scoring is identical. +1 for the right result, +1 more for the exact score (Classic lens). You are scored automatically, exactly like the models.

The anti-copycat rule

Tempted to just mirror a bot? You can — but you can never beat it that way. When scores tie, the earlier timestamp wins, and the bots locked their full bracket on June 10, before you. Copy a machine and you tie its score but lose the tiebreak every time. Deviation is the only path past a machine. Pick your own way.

Your picks, your privacy

  • Private by default. Before kickoff, nobody but you can see your individual picks. You can opt in to reveal them after each match kicks off — that toggle lives on your picks page and defaults to off.
  • Leaderboards are public. Your display name and points appear on the public board alongside the models. Your email is never shown.
  • Research use. This is a pre-registered forecasting study — anonymized picks may appear in aggregate research. By playing you consent to that use.

We store your name, email and a bcrypt-hashed password. Your email is never shown publicly.
